I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day to laugh,
to love, to walk or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that place at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void
then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me.
God wanted me now. He set me free.

Always loving & caring; puts everyone else first;
Never declined to assist, even if feeling her worst.
No one's stranger....she welcomed them ALL....
Everyone, yes, everyone, whether big or small.

Kindness expressed through her heartwarming smile;
Encouraging words....now, that was her style.
Longing for and caring for her family and friends,
Lots of love to share; it just never ends!
Yes, she was a gift that God sent down from above,

Keeping her surroundings overflowing with her love.
Exemplary role model; leaves some huge shoes to fill;
Non-complaining in spite of her treacherous battle uphill.
Notably remembered for her outgoing personality,
Endearing to all and to their hearts she held a key.
Do you wonder whom this message is trying to define?
You can discover her name if you read the first letter of each line!

A paper angel
hanging from the window shade,
And on the sill
some pink carnations fade.
Then from beyond
the sounds that fill her room:
The sighing pines,
The call of flying cranes,
The far-off piping of a whippoorwill.
She sees the branches
of a scrawny tree,
And thanks the One
who put it there for her to see.
And over all--
the voices of the ones she loves.
All these--and more--
She counts as gifts of God.
